When Benjamin first came here, he was barely an adult and knew nothing. He doesn't even remember the life he used to have with his own blood family now. The most he can remember is that he used to live in an area that was only made up of mountains and fields.

To survive on the vast farmland, Benjamin's family did what the landlord told them to do and had minimal education. Even then, it was all about farming. There was no shortage of food, but everything else was scarce.

There was only a small school and a shopping center in town. The population was small enough that everyone knew everyone's face. All the other families were large, like Benjamin's. They had four or five children, and by the time they were ten, they were either raising livestock or helping their parents farm.

Benjamin took a different path. He left home at an early age to earn money, but life in the outside world wasn't as easy as he thought it would be. No matter how hard he tried, he could never save enough money, and unlike back home, the environment was quite polluted.

The first place he tried to settle was a small town, not a big and developed place like Green City, of course. He tried to live hard, but since he had no connections and was young and ignorant of the world, he just couldn't.

When young Benjamin tried to rent a house, it was exorbitantly expensive, and when he tried to get a job, they took a lot of his money as a middleman's fee - saying they would pay it back, but in the end they kept putting it off.

Being a small town, everyone was connected, and Benjamin, being young and innocent, had to live paycheck to paycheck. Always surrounded by men who looked at him dirty.

Then he heard about the Green City. He learned that many people were migrating there to find work. So Benjamin bet his life on it. Since he didn't have enough money to get there, Benjamin decided to rob the boss's safe. The old man had told him many times that he could not pay, but wow, it turned out that the safe was full. Benjamin didn't feel guilty.

And so, with the money he stole, Benjamin was able to get someone to smuggle him into the Old Town---they put him in a baggage car for over a week. It was more than horrible, Benjamin doesn't want to remember it. And not only did it end there, he was then loaded onto a truck before being put into a train car, where he was stuck with five other people for a week, with barely any light. There were no toilets, so filth piled up in the corners and the smell was terrible. It was worth a year's salary.

And to this day, Benjamin wonders if it was worth it.

The Old Town was much larger than the original city. The skyscrapers beyond the walls made Benjamin think he was in another world. But here, the beautiful man decided to trust no one so he would not be fooled again.

It was easier not to expect anything. Although that did not keep him from getting hurt. Even in the Old Town, Benjamin was deceived often in the beginning. He had several dangerous encounters that made him nervous and aware of his surroundings, and at the slightest hint of suspicion, he would run.

After living in hiding and working hard, Benjamin finally received his Old Town citizenship. It wasn't much, but he needed it to get a job. You have to live in the town for at least three years to be officially registered, and another three years to work at an employment agency.

Benjamin lived on a meager salary for his citizenship. There was a dormitory type place, but eight people had to share one room. A cramped room with four bunk beds and closets, and it always smelled so bad because no one took care of it. They weren't even fed properly, so they lived twenty-four seven with a bad taste in their mouths.

Benjamin covers his mouth, feeling sick at the memory. He is eating the most delicious food in the world, but the thought of the past makes him want to vomit. Trying to clear his mind, the beautiful man wraps up the leftovers and puts them in a cool place, then sits back down on the couch.

His stomach is full and his nerves have calmed down a bit. A moment ago he wanted to die, but now he's just dazed. Oh, how simple the human body is.

Benjamin leans back with these thoughts and eventually falls asleep.
